Most internet companies are actually pretty safe to do business with.
In fact, much safer than giving your credit card to the guy who pumped your gas or having some waiter
disappear with it for a few minutes.
Use common sense and see if you can find some information, online, on the company you are planning to do business with.

A few tips ( stuff I do myself)
- Try to find some information like what you see above.
- Check for phone numbers and call. Bogus sites are not answering phones most of the time.
- Always use a credit card with a reasonably low limit.
