XENA Alarmed
lock Features:
The model of XENA
disc lock you need depends on your bike and where you want
or can place the unit on the disc brake.
Since manufacturers change brake discs often, it is best to
look at your disc and measure which unit suits your
needs. You need to measure the distance from the edge of the
disc to the first large opening. Also measure the opening
and compare with throat and locking pin thickness of the
Xena Lock models
below.
One of the great advantages of a Xena alarmed disc lock is
that it will
remind you to remove the lock 'before' driving away.
All Xena models have the same 3 sensors, an LED light sensor, a
shock sensor and a motion sensor. The LED light sensor is
used to arm the motion and shock sensors. In other words,
the unit will not arm itself unless it is installed on a
disc or something solid is placed in the throat of the
unit blocking the light sensor. This allows you to lock
the unit and carry it in its pouch without having to worry
that it will sound ever 15 seconds as you drive down the
road.
The sensitivity of
the unit is dictated by where the unit is placed on the
disc. As an example, if you place the unit high - on the top
of the disc, it is more sensitive than if you place it low -
on the bottom of the disc.
Xena Alarmed disc
locks are powered by 6 button batteries. Each Xena disc lock
comes with a battery pack installed, inside the unit, and a
spare battery pack in the box. Lockitt.com adds another 12
extra batteries, free of charge, with every Xena Alarmed
disc lock.
XR1, 14 and 15 models also come with a handy carrying pouch.
Installation and Use:
The unit is
installed by placing it on the front or rear disc of your
bike. Remember that the unit is most sensitive if placed on
the top of the disc facing down, and least sensitive if
placed on the bottom of the disc facing up.
Once the LED light sensor senses that the units is installed
on a disc, the unit will beep once (after 10 seconds) to
tell you that the unit is arming itself. 10 seconds after
that beep, the unit will be fully armed.
When the XENA unit is triggered, it will sound 2
short beeps and then the alarm will sound for 15 seconds
before it goes silent and re-arms itself. You have
approximately 3 seconds from the time that the unit is
disturbed until it sounds. This is to ensure that you do not
have time to get on your bike and start it before the alarms
sounds and also to warn any would – be thieves to stay away.
We also have Xena Chain
and Cable Lock/Alarms available. Pending inventory, orders are shipped the same
day that they are received.
All XENA products have a 12 month warranty (excluding
batteries).
Troubleshooting and
Maintenance
If you find that the
unit becomes difficult to arm, not as sensitive as when you
first bought it or that the alarm is not as loud, there are
two checks that you can perform to ensure that your unit
functions at optimum efficiency:
- Change the
battery pack.
- Clean the light
sensor area by running a soft cloth through the throat area
of the unit and remove any dirt from the
sensor/reflector area.
If the unit starts
going off by itself (without being installed on the disc),
it is also time to clean the bottom reflector and LED
sensors. (see above)
Extreme cold will
shorten battery life. If you store your bike over-winter, in
a cold place, you may want to remove the batteries or, if at
high risk, replace more frequently.
A ticking noise is
usually caused by low batteries.
Replace with
XPB-1 (6 batteries +
Holder) or our buy our
Maxell LR44 batteries (10
batteries for $7.95)
CHOOSING A MODEL
XENA 2007 Disc Lock Models:
XR1: Available in yellow, red, stainless, gun
metal and chrome.
The smallest Xena lock currently available.
Made from zinc alloy with a 7mm - 9/32" pin, this lock will
fit any normal size brake disc as long as it has holes.
Vertical clearance (gap) is 7mm - 9/32" and throat is 49mm
or 1 23/16"
|
If you are looking for the smallest possible
lock or if none of the larger Xena locks will
fit your bike, this is the one to get.
Although the alarm function is exactly the same
as the larger models,
the actual lock is less strong due to the
smaller locking pin. |
XM14
- XN14 - XH14
Available in yellow (XM), stainless (XN)
Xena 14 series combine both size and high level security.
XM model is made from a hardened chrome molybdenum steel, XN
from stainless steel and XH has been treated (hardened) with
inert gas.
This treatment gives the lock body a nice rough black
finish.
All 14 models have a double locking 14mm - 9/16" pin which
makes it virtually impossible to pry the lock off the disc.
Vertical
clearance (gap) is 7mm - 9/32" and throat is 46mm or 1
13/16"
|
Xena 14
series
is an ideal balance between size and strength.
The massive double locking pin provides high
security even without the alarm function. |
XE15 - XN15 -
XH15
Xena 15 series will fit those bikes where a longer
throat is needed.
XE model is made from a hardened chrome molybdenum steel, XN
from stainless steel and XH has been treated (hardened) with
inert gas.
This treatment gives the lock body a nice rough black
finish.
All 15 models have a double locking 14mm - 9/16" pin which
makes it virtually impossible to pry the lock off the disc.
Vertical clearance (gap) is 7mm - 9/32" and
throat is 62mm or 2 7/16"
|
Buy this
lock if you need a longer throat (to reach holes
further away from the edge of the disc). The
massive double locking pin provides high
security even without the alarm function. |
XN18 Nightmare
A nightmare it is. For the thieve that is.
With an unprecedented 18mm - 2 9/16" pin, this lock could
easily be described as overkill.
Although it will not fit every bike, and you would be
lugging around 3 1/2Lbs of stainless steel, it simply is a
massive security device.
The entire cylinder and (double) locking pin is removeable
(with the key only). XN18 also features 2 sets of infrared
sensors (versus 1 set on all other Xena locks)
Vertical clearance (gap) is 7mm - 9/32" and throat is 65mm
or 2 9/16"
|
If price
and weight is not an issue, this is the absolute
strongest lock you can get.
|
If you choose a unit, and it does not fit your bike, we will
gladly exchange it for one that does, provided that there is
no damage to the returned unit.
The units are powered by a battery pack which contains 6 -
LR44 watch batteries. We deliver the unit with one battery
pack installed, an additional one at no extra chargein the
box and 12 extra spare batteries, courtesy of Lockitt.com.
The
battery packs last about one season (6 to 8 months), depending on how often
the alarm is activated. Additional battery packs are
available from us.
I addition, we have
Xena
XV200 Disc lock / Cable combinations available.
You may contact us
at any time if you have any questions. By
email is preferred.
No matter where you purchased your Xena lock, if you have a
problem, we will try to help you out.
Always remember, this is an electronic device and therefore
needs extra care over a regular disc lock.

About pricing
!
There are many old style Xena disc locks
offered in stores and on several websites for less
money.
We only sell the latest and vastly improved models.
First generation Xena locks have a low security
tubular key system, simple push down locking pin (as opposed to double
locking on Xena XE12 models) and a mechanical (ball) switch
to control the alarm function.
These old locks
may look like a bargain but are no comparison to the
locks we sell today.
As we never sold any first generation Xena locks, we are not able to offer any form
of after sale service on these old style locks. |
